ImageManager unable to connect with NAS

I have XP Pro running with Desktop edition that I just downloaded for 30 day trial.  The backups went perfectly to a networked attached WD  1TB MyBook running Mionet.

The problem is that I cannot access the drive from ImageManager.  It simply does not connect and does not give any message as to why.  I have tried all the various fixes of names etc that I was able to cull together from other posts, but nothing seems to work.

I love the product, but I really need to manage the NAS' with ImageManager.

     Help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, since I downloaded the product, will I get a recovery disc if I buy or can I simply burn one upon activation?

Re: ImageManager unable to connect with NAS

I am unclear whether the connect problem is the ImageManager client connecting with the service or trying to add a directory on the NAS as a watch directory.  Since you say ImageManager won't connect, it sounds like the service may not be running.  Run services.msc from the command line and look for StorageCraft Image Manager.  Make sure it shows "Started".

Re: ImageManager unable to connect with NAS

In ImageManager, when I try to connect to server (under File menu), I am unable to get the NAS to connect.  Nothing happens.

I have tried the IP address and various other names (Mybookworld) and it will not connect.  The Image Manager is shown as "started" when I run services.msc.

Re: ImageManager unable to connect with NAS

The problem is that the connection occurs between the client and the server where ImageManager is running, not the location of the image files (in this case the NAS).  Use localhost as the server to connect with and once you are connected you can add a directory on the NAS where images will be managed.  For this to work the service will need to run with the credentials used to access the NAS.  You may have seen this in other posts where you change the Log On properties of the ImageManager service from Local System account to a user with access to the NAS.

Re: ImageManager unable to connect with NAS

I saw the other posts about this and I have tried to make it work.   Perhaps if I tell you how it is currently set, you can help.  The NAS is running mapped to a drive.  However, it shows on "My Computer", but does not show up on "localhost".  In shadowprotect, I have a directory and password that shadowprotect signs onto for the backups- this is different than the sign on to Mionet which gives me access to the NAS.  I have made them all the same sign on but that did not seem to help.  To summarize, all the passwords and usernames have been synched with full access, but that did not work.

Is there an easy way to see what credentials are used to access the NAS?  At startup, Mionet automatically signs onto the drive.

    Thanks

Re: ImageManager unable to connect with NAS

You should be able to use the same name and password for the ImageManager service that you used in ShadowProtect that allow you to write to this destination.

     Did ImageManager connect using localhost?

The same name and password will not connect.  Also, localhost only shows the drives physically connected to the computer running ImageManager - which are also the drives backed up to the NAS drive.

I have the same problem, exactly what your situation was during your last posting.

Can you tell me if you have a solution to this yet and what it was?

    Kind Regards,

    Scott
