Problem using the Recovery Environment CD within a VMware virtual machine

    Hello,

I'm trying to backup a virtual machine created with VMware Workstation 6 by using the Shadowprotect Recovery Environment CD (ShadowProtect Desktop 3.2). Within the virtual machine, I am able to boot into the recovery environment, but the virtual hard drive is not recognized. Do I need to somehow manually add VMware drivers for the virtual hard drive? Does it matter if the virtual hard drive is scsi or ide? Thanks for any suggestions.

    Mike

Interesting.  We have both the IDE and the SCSI drivers in Recovery Environment.  We use VMWare 6 for test and development.  SCSI and IDE drives both should show up.  You might try using both options 1 and 2 if you haven't tried.

Hi Scott, I just tried Option 2 "Start 2003-based Legacy Recovery Environment" and it worked fine. Thanks for the suggestion. - Mike
