Issues after restoring to new hardware (HP ML350 G5)

I have restored the image and then used HIR to load the drivers, but when I reboot the new server into Directory Services Restore Mode (the server O/S is SBS 2003), I receive a logon prompt and I can logon okay. I then receive a prompt to “activate windows” and I can select “yes”, “no” or “cancel” – there is nothing else on the screen. Clicking “Cancel” shuts the server down, clicking “NO” logs off and clicking “yes” tries to show the activation page but it cannot be displayed. The server is picking up an IP address as I can “ping’ it from another device on the network. This happens even when starting the server normally. Starting in “safe mode” tells me to reboot to Active Windows.

     Hi orbnet,

Are you able to change the screen resolution in DS Restore Mode? Also have you tried Safe mode to see if this gives you any different options.

    Cheers,

    Simon

    Hi Simon,

I can not change the screen resolution in DS restore mode. It is just a black screen and and the activate windows screen appears over the top (it does not cover the full screen) The Windows Activation page states that the "page can not be found". There is no where to select to use a different method to active and there are no icons, start button, etc.

In "Safe Mode" it tells me to reboot and to active windows first before going into safe mode.

    Thanks

     Iain

I resolved this issue by changing the time and date in the BIOS. The date in the BIOS was set to 28th Jan 2008. Changing this to todays date and then restoring the image solved the issue.
