Hello!
I am wondering about how you ShadowProtect Server Edition users handle off-site backups. I purchased SP 3.2 for SBS for a client and just installed it with its default of a full backup on Sunday and then hourly incrementals during the week. It backs up to a 500GB USB drive. The server has about 110GB of OS and data on two partitions. It was late on Saturday, so I have not even had a chance to do any other configuration.
My goal is to have SP do its thing to the USB drive, and have two other USB drives that are alternated every other day for off-site backup. I am wondering if I can use the SBS 2003 backup wizard (that uses NTBackup) to make backups to the USB drives for off-site backups while still using SP for the on-site full/incremental backup.
Even better would be if I could have the current schedule and also do nightly full backups to the secondary USB drive, which then gets taken off site and replaced with another USB drive for that night's backup. Or perhaps a way to clone the main backup USB drive to the secondary USB drive or a NAS?
What about using SP and having something like AhSay or DataHealth off-site backup services for critical data?
Any ideas?
Not having an off-site backup scares the doo-doo out of me.
Thank you!
Gregg Hill
P.S. I second the motion for folder exclusions! Direct disk-to-disk clone would be a HUGE time saver as well. And YIPPEE! to the ability to restore to smaller partitions.
