    Slow network connection

I am evaluating the ShadowProtect Desktop 3.2.  I installed it on a couple of workstations in my office and created backups to a shared folder on the SBS2003 server.  The backup takes more than a day to backup a 143GB drive.  The speed is less than 1MB/sec.  I have tried it on different workstations and it is the same. Nothing else seems to be slow, I can open and copy files to and from the server quite fast.  How can I go about troubleshooting this?  When I do a backup to a USB drive it takes about an hour, which I assume is a normal speed.

    Thanks

It can be tricky to figure out exactly where the bottleneck is.  A couple of things come to mind that I have seen before.  Ensure that the NIC drivers on the SBS Server are the latest version, as well as the NIC drivers on the machine being backed up.  You could also check for any firmware updates for your network switch.  I also rememer one other user who experienced slowness when jumbo frames were turned on on their network, so you may want to check your switch for that and turn jumbo frames off if they are enabled.
