The main ShadowProtect service is called: "ShadowProtectSvc"

Most errors, or problems, that could occur, will be written into the main backup log file, so it's important to monitor that.

You can also periodically check the satus of the various VSS components. At a command line, type the following command:
vssadmin list writers

Look for any writer that is not marked stable.
