    Recovery CD

Downloaded & installed SP (via link from WinZip promo email).  Downloaded two ways 1) exe file which I saved locally and then opened and Installed;  2) iso file which was successfully used to create a DVD which I can open on my system but have not used it to install SP.  The System will not boot from the ISO created DVD.  ( Boot files missing).

Somehow have missed an essential point.  How do I obtain a "StorageCraft Recovery Environment CD" which will boot my system in an emergency.  Without that CD ( Can it be a DVD or DVD RW?) my backup files are unreachable unless I can boot into Vista Home Premium (64-bit version).

Have read all about how to use the Recovery Environment CD but nothing about where I get one.  Please help.

Please search forum for "Recovery Environment".

     Hi FT

Thanks for the clue.  I did the search and found a post that advised me to create a bootable CD using my usual burning software.  Well, the Vista Home Premium 64-bit that came on my HP computer is "Cyberlink Power2Go " and it does not support burning a bootable CD.   I used this software to create the installation disk mentioned in my first post and it does not boot due to "missing boot files".   What other "usual software burning software" options do I have?   Hope I don't need to buy one.

Just to check - when you burnt the CD, did you see a single ISO file on the drive? If so, then you need to select the burn option that writes the CD image within the ISO file, not the file itself. There should be an option for that on the DVD/CD Burn software. (Check the help file in Power2Go and search for ISO)

    Hey Bluefish,

In Power2Go, on the "Select a Burning Task" window, click on "Disc Utilities" then "Burn Disc Image". All you have to do then is browse for the ISO and burn the disc.
