You can always boot the recovery environment and make the backup from there.

Any word yet on 3.2? I have two systems, and I like what I've seen in running ShadowProtect Desktop on my Vista machine (the incremental scheduling is a little too inflexible--I want to run fulls less than once a month, and I want to run backups manually instead of by schedule, as I'm backing up to an external drive that must be switched to the machine, but I can work around that), but my other machine is Windows XP Pro x64.  I'm all set to buy two copies of Desktop, but only if I can get it running on my x64 machine...

Okay, here's the status of x64.  It's looking very good for Server 2003 x64, XP x64, and Vista SP0 x64, however we're not quite ready for Vista SP1 x64 and Server 2008 x64 (we're almost there - we have a resolution for an issue provoked by changes in the VSS framework which is being implemented at this moment).

We're likely going to allow interested users to participate in a beta program for ShadowProtect 3.2 x64.  If you are interested in participating, then please send an email to support 'aht' storagecraft 'doht' com with the subject "ShadowProtect x64 Beta Program" and we'll add you to our list.

Not wanting to Harp on, but it is now 3 months since this thread started - I have registered for the Beta, but nothing as yet. can you commit to a deleivery before the endo of Feb, or can I have my six grand back?

Not production servers, no.  Our x64 3.2 beta is in test right now and I would not install it on any production servers until any potential issues are perfectly resolved. 

If you wait till everything is perfect you will never release it - Microsoft have proved that.

The guy who is primarily responsible for the install builds in on a flight right now.  As I understood it he was working on a beta installer yesterday before he left, and I don't know if he finished it or not.  As soon as he's ready we're going to send it out to those individuals who signed up for the x64 beta program.

p.s. I think most of us want to be able to recommend the use of ShadowProtect but not being able to cover one of the key servers (Exchange2007) [and needing to use a totally different backup solution for that particular system] is a bit of a deal buster.

Understood.  3.2 (soon to be released) works just fine with Exchange 2007.

Is there anything new on the v3.2 Desktop release date?  I've been using the beta and it's the best beta I have ever tested.  No BSOD's and runs perfectly.  I'm surprised it's not released yet.

Any updates on x64 support. I have several clients waiting for its availability...I may lose the to acronis...it is now 4/24/2008...have been waiting for 5 months!!!

Yes, x64 support is now available with 3.2.  You can download the 3.2 installers (for both desktop and server edition) from the main www.storagecraft.com page.
