    Re: IT Edition Q1 2010

     No answers?

I did manage to get it working myself.

A call from the Australian StorageCraft support were at a loss as to why it was asking for the license server.

They kept thinking that it was a problem with the optical drive, even though I was able to boot off the CD and get as far as it did and I also had another computer that was doing the exact same thing.

The problem was fixed by moving the optical drive SATA cable from a SATA port on the mainboard to a SATA port on a PCI card I put in the machine.

Am I going to have to keep a SATA PCI card with me at all times now in case this happens again???

Edit:  By the way I followed the link to the 3 day ISO download BUT this is only for those who are lucky enough (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) to have the USB version of the IT edition as you need to get the serial# off it.  There is no serial# in the LIC file on the CD version.

Copy the SHADOWPROTECT.LIC file from the CD to the root of the system drive. Has worked for me so far.

    So no updates from Storagecraft??

When will we receive our USB version?

In the mean time, how do I run the licenseserver, on a machine on our network, from the CD version so that I can use shadowprotect on machines that don't have optical drives?

I've tried running the Licenseserver.exe file and it runs for a second or two then stops with messages/errors (dissappears from taskmanager)

I need to run it on our server, which doesn't have an optical drive in it, as it is really the only machine that is always on and always connected to the network.

This is becoming a real pain...I just want to be able to use the product I paid a lot of money for.

     @Cyabro,

As I mentioned above, I've found that if you copy the shadowprotect.lic file from the CD to the C: drive, SP runs OK (you don't need licenseserver.exe).

     Hope this helps

This worked for me too  , Ziggy, who told you to do this or was it trial and error ?

That's great ziggy252 thanks but how do I do that when I can't even get into shadowprotect to browse to the C:?

The machine that I wanted to image was not booting so couldn't just boot into Windows to do this. :(
