bcd not found by SP 3.5.1 recovery environment

I am unable to boot from the ShadowPro 3.5.1 iso cd. This works fine on a Lenovo T400s Win 7 x64 SSD box without Bitlocker. But on a Lenovo  T61p with Win 7 x64 SSD drive with TPM, Lenovo Client Security and Bitlocker, it fails to see the bcd file. I decrypted the drive and the error persists. Boots fine from Win7 cd into Win RE.  Seems like the ShadowPro RE is confused by the bitlocker setup (hidden C: partition, OS is on "E" partition but looks like C: when Win 7 is booted). I cannot use the BCDedit feature of SP RE, because I cannot get the SP RE to boot!

    Any suggestions?

So can you describe, step by step, exactly what happens when you try to boot the ShadowProtect Recovery Environment CD on your Lenovo T61p? Do you get the pre-boot menu where it asks you if you want to boot the legacy or recommended environment or boot through to the hard disk? If yes, then when you boot the recommended environment, what exactly happens?

SP preboot menu appears promptly; select option 1 (Win 7 RE); goes away and thinks a long time; returns with error message Boot\BCD not found 0xC00000E9

     Murray,

Out of interest, in Disk Management, how many partitions do you have? What are their drive letters (if they have drive letters)? Which is the Active, system partition?

What happen when you boot the second SP choice?

3 Partitions   C: (OS) 58 GB;  D: (data) 59 GB; No Label (Hidden) 300 MB Active - all NTFS

I will try second SP choice later and let you know

Which variation of the Recovery Environment CD do you have? There have been several since the release of 3.5.1. If you browse out to the CD, and go to Programs\ShadowProtectPE, find ShadowProtectPE.exe and look at the product version that will tell you which build it actually came from.

Okay, thanks Murray. We'll try to reproduce this issue and will get back to you. One thing though. You say "Win 7 RE". Does your CD preboot menu actually say "Win7" or does it say "Vista" for the recommended environment. This is very important.

It says Win7. The release build of 3.5.1 had this error in it.

[EDIT: The error is that it says "Win7" on the preboot menu rather than "Vista" as it should. The "error" SPT mentions above has nothing to do with the error experienced by Murray, which appears to be a media and/or drive issue]

Murray, I have seen situations where a CD-R can be read successfully on one machine, but not on another. The inability of this CD-R to boot looks to me to be a drive and/or CD-R media issue. I haven't seen this for a while, but when I did, it was usually solvable using these two techniques (often just one of these is enough to solve the problem): 1) Upgrade the CD/DVD drive firmware on the Lenovo T61p 2) Burn the ISO to a new CD-R using a different brand (a high quality brand like Taiyo Yuden is best) and then try that new CD-R in the Lenovo T61p

Problem fixed by burning on an external USB CDR (LiteON ezau422).

Thank you all for your help
