    Re: Scripting

    Nate,

Any word on when/if you'll be releasing any documentation for scripting?

     Cheers,
     Garry

I am evaluating Shadow Protect for a start-up company that is interested in using your product with hundred of deployments, and one of the things that will be BIG with us is scripting. I am quite discouraged to see that the question of scripting documentation was first brought up over a year ago, the most recent post was four months ago, and did not even receive an answer.

I do not see how, in good conscience, you can list scripting and command-line functions as one of the selling points of the product if there is no documentation for it.

Please respond with current ETA of scripting documentation, or the date you polan to remove it from the features list.

    Thank you.

    Re: Scripting

You have some good and valid points there.  While ShadowProtect is fully scriptable, and we do have documentation for its COM interfaces, we've found that it's very easy for users who write their own scripts to screw things up, even with sample scripts and docs.  We've had discussions about this and we're planning to add some stuff to our interfaces to simplify some of the major hurdles that have caused problems in the past.  Our plan is to release that stuff in a future release, likely the one that follows 3.3.  We are willing to work with individuals where there's a significant justifiable need for scripting.  If you're such an individual then please contact support aht storagecraft doht com and we'll continue this discussion via email.
