    burning backup

i am using a trial version of shadowprotect desktop  and am wondering why i am prompted to use another media when i am backing up one disk two partions to a 4.7gb disk. i am using standard compression and the resulting files for both partitions are quite small.

why does it not just backup both partitions to one disk.

    Re: burning backup

Hmm, that's an interesting scenario.  The underlying engine has the ability to burn multiple files to a single writeable optical disc, but the way that those jobs execute (each one is executing its own instance of the engine, sbrun.exe) is such that the information for each job is essentially kept separate.  Also by default they run in sequence (not in parallel).

On another note, wow, those are rather small volumes.  You could just back them up to some hard disk and then use some other dvd burning software to burn BOTH images to the same DVD.

It's hard to imagine and provide for every possible use case under the sky.  This is one of those cases.  :|

    Re: burning backup

i have  found out why it was burning to two disks. i was mistaken on how much compression was used with standard.

standard uses approx. 40%. i thought it was more. duh. the answer is usually a simple one. sorry for the post.

thanks for quick response and i will be buying the product .
