I found posts on here related to concerns when moving a DC to a new box, ie. NIC card and services bound to original NIC when SBS2003 was first installed...
I've tried the migration (twice unsuccessfully) using both the HIR "Remove NIC" checkbox and without using it. I also put in that "Show hidden devices" environment variable as someone suggested allowing you to see/uninstall non-existent devices (old NIC) in DevMgr. After installing the devices in the new box (Chipset/Raid/Video while in AD restore mode) - Everything looked like it was going to fly.
But kept getting Event log errors pertaining to NDISWAN registry entries missing, etc. All the services would start except RRAS, which I assume is due to NIC problems. A possible issue is the "BroadCom" chipset in the new box (Dell) doesn't like being installed in Safe/AD restore mode.
One other note restoring the image - it does mention a warning about "System BCD" whatever that is.
So bottom line: What's the deal with moving an image to a new NIC? It must be something simple, as this is right at the core of what this product is supposed to accomplish, right?
Thanks in advance for any tips, advice... /\/\itch
