Cannot get to Restore...Blue Screen of Technical Difficulties

I have two Dell computers. One is about 4 years old (GX620), the other a (755) is brand new.  They are both on a corporate network.  I have made the appropriate image on the GX620 and created a CD restore from a download.  I tried to install SP on the new machine, but it won't activate.  The GX image and drivers are on Drive D: of the 755.  Whenever I boot from the CD, I choose the XP (#2) option, as that is our OS.  I don't even get the option to begin the restore process, it just goes to a Blue Screen that says I may have system issues.  If I try to restore from a trial edition, it tells it can't dismount drive C: and fails.

Any ideas on what could be happening?

    Thanks,

Go ahead and try the Vista option and let us know what occurs. You may be able to use the Vista option without any issue with your restore.

It did allow me to restore using the Vista option.  Even with copying the drivers from C: to D: there were two that it could not find.  However, I took the CD out, turned off the computer, restarted the computer, and came up with the Blue Screen, "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your commputer....

I would like to resolve this as our IT department seems interested in this HIR concept. Our institution (UT) with all of the computers within just our one campus exceeds 7000.  But, at the moment, it is what it is, and I'm going to have reinstall all the additional software.
