    Server 2008 Core - Support?

We are getting ready to implement Server Core for some internal as well as client setups.

We have not setup a Core install yet, so are not clear on the support for it with ShadowProtect?

    If not, when?

    Thanks,

    Philip

We are just now evaluating what we will do with Server Core.  It most likely will simply be the installer for us since there is no UI.  Stay tuned, we should have details within the next month or so.

We would really like feedback on this.  Please let us know how, why and when you will be implementing Server Core.

Primary purposes that we can see so far:

    1. Branch Office: AD Read Only, File, Print Sharing
    2. Virtual Server on Hyper-V

For branch offices, the slimmed down OS means we will be able to use older hardware a lot longer.

Thanks. That is interesting. Sounds like it may be common place for this.  We will let you know when we have support. Easy = sooner, Hard = a little bit longer.

We use Server core mainly for Hyper-V but manage it with System Center Virtual Mancine Manager 2008 that has a plugin for the Data Protection Manager software to take snapshots using VSS for backups as we have Server Core both in the LAN and DMZ as well as at remote offices where we use it for Active Directory and File, Print server just the normal stuff, May also use it for Terminal Server.

    Any update?

We have a number of Server Core installs going now with some in the immediate future for our clients.

We may look to SCE + SCDPM as an option if things are not happening in the near future.

Please let us know if Server Core will be covered.

    Thanks,

    Philip
