Unmountable Boot Volume BSOD after install of SPD 3.2 in Vista x64

Installed SPDesktop 3.2 30 day trial version on my Vista x64 machine and after reboot get a BSOD .... Unmountable Boot Volume.

Reverted to last known Good configuration to boot, but ShadowProtect services don't run. What do I need to do to get SPDesktop to run in my (RAID 0) Vista x64 machine.

    Thanks

That almost sounds to me as if the stcvsm.sys driver was registered at install time (meaning that its service key and values were created under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\stcvsm) but the driver file itself somehow didn't get placed into the C:\windows\system32\drivers directory.  On boot, Windows would see that stcvsm.sys is registered to run at boot time (Start = 0) but would fail to find the driver file stcvsm.sys in the C:\windows\system32\drivers directory and would then BSOD.

Check to see if stcvsm.sys is in the C:\windows\system32\drivers directory

Yes... stcvsm.sys was in the C:\windows\system32\drivers directory and I tried a few re-installs.

After I installed Vista service pack 1 and reinstalled SPDesktop 3.2 everything worked fine. I am looking foward to using ShadowProtect.

Uh.... okay.   Weird.  This one we haven't seen before.  Very strange that the problem went away after you applied SP1.

    Nate,

New, never used Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook, Vista home 32bit version, Sp1, updated it utill the last bit.

Installed evaluation version of SP 3.2, rebooted:

    Stop Error 0xED, Unmountable_Boot_Volume

Didn't restore a previous configuration, just booted my BartPe, and moved stcvsm.sys to a temporary folder.
    Rebooted: Everything is OK.

    What's the matter here?

    Regards,

    Michel Uphoff
