Dual boot: Win2003 and WinXP Computer

I think I know the answer to this...but hope it's not as bad as I think it is. (Or that maybe there's a work-around).

PC has Win2003 Enterprise and WinXP system partitions on RAID 5 controller. Decided to dump Ghost 9 (PowerQuest version) and Acronis and go with ShadowProtect. Installed on WinXP partition and made separate backup of Win2003 and WinXP partitions. Then, as luck would have it, two days late the RAID controller dies.

Plugged in new HD to onboard SATA port and restored both partitions. Was hoping that I wouldn't need to use HIR...but I did on the WinXP partition. This now boots fine (after a few tweaks). Unfortunately, the Win2003 partition still doesn't boot. It shows the splash screen and then restarts.

If I try to run HIR on the Win2003 partition I get the familiar error:
    Error 0x00000001: Function not found
Target is not a supported Windows volume.

From what I understand, this is because ShadowProtect was not installed on the Win2003 partition prior to backup. Getting a ShadowProtect server license is not an option - it's too expensive: I was only using Win2003 for writing software, not for for running an enterprise email server etc.

    Q.Is this correct....and am I as screwed as I think I am?

I can access the Win2003 partition from the WinXP partition and copy files over, so that's something. But I would like to get Win2003 up and running again.

Q.Are there any other options? Would VMWare Workstation 6 be able to import this backup image (and presumably handle any driver-related problems)?

On the Win2003 partition there is an HIR log file that say:
    Scripting Not Enabled.
Failed to Unload System Hive, 5.
    Scripting Not Enabled.

Well the ShadowProtect WIN2003 image imported into VMWare Workstation 6 without issues - so that's something.

I'm guessing there's no way of getting the original restored Win2003 image to boot.....
