    Problem restoring to Vmware Server

I have backed up my Windows XP SP3 system drive with Shadowprotect Desktop 3.1, and I cannot restore the backup to a virtual server I create with Vmware Server 1.0.6.

I can start the Shadowdestop recovery environment all right in Vmware Server, but the problems come when Shadowprotect starts reading the image file to start the restore process (or evn just to do an image verification), I get the following error log:

The same happens if I just to run a "Verify Image" job from the recovery environment. I have of course verified the image in my original WIndows Shadowprotect and it seems to be all right.

It does not matter whether the image is in a USB external disk or in a disk partition inside Vmware Server, the same error happens. I have tried both the Vista-based recovery environment and the XP-based, and both give me the same problem. I have tried limitting the image file size to 640 MB (thereby getting 15 spx image files, instead of the 2 I normally get), but it does work.

I'd appreciate very much any suggestions.

This usually means the image file is corrupt.  Was the image copied to a different disk or location for the restore?  If so, something may have gone wrong during the copy.  It should not make a difference where you run Verify from, but if it was working from within Windows try the Verify again from there (on the same image file, without any copying).  If it succeeds, please post the Verify details.

Also, I noticed you are not using the most recent recovery CD.  The one you have should still work, but you might want to download the latest 3.2 recovery CD anyway.  (You can do so here

Thanks very much for your response.

I tried the 3.2 Recovery environment and got the same problem. I ran the verify job in Windows on the same image and it said it was OK. Here are the Verify job details:
