    conflicts?

I am on the verge of buying ShadowProtect Desktop edition 3.2 but have a question I need answering. If you have other backup/image software on your computer will there be a conflict?

I currently use Carbonite as a backup system,  for redundancy and will continue to use it. I was using Connected, still have their software on my computer, though I will be purging it as soon as I can get a working backup to my new external drive. Will ShadowProtect still work even though I have the other backup software on my computer?

    <>Thanks,

Any time you have multiple backup applications there is a chance for conflict. The best way to avoid this is of course to remove them, but that isn't always possible. so we suggest that you just make sure that the backup jobs are scheduled to occur at different times.

I would suggest that you do remove Connected since it uses an older version of our snapshot driver to make the backups.  Ghost also uses an older version of our driver and I would suggest you avoid using both ShadowProtect and Ghost at the same time.

We have had conflicts in the past with Acronis, but it appears that has been fixed in their latest version.

Marilyn, by “Connected”, do you mean Connected Backup for PC?  I have used the Iron Mountain backup solution together with ShadowProtect Desktop for about nine months, and have never experienced a conflict.

I would suggest that you do remove Connected since it uses an older version of our snapshot driver to make the backups.

Scott, what is the file name and path of the driver used by Iron Mountain?

yup, that's the one. I am removing it now, using the add/remove windows utility. I've also downloaded the 30 day ShadowProtect, will install it after removing Connected.

Hopefully all of Connected will be uninstalled...

Scott, I have read that LiveVault by Iron Mountain uses the StorageCraft driver; but, my impression is that the “Connected Backup for PC” product does not.  True or false?

    Thank you.

You're right. My bad.  Only LiveVault uses our snapshot driver.

    Re: conflicts?

Thank you, Scott, for the clarification.  As noted previously, I have used both ShadowProtect Desktop and the Connected Backup/PC service on the same PC (Windows XP and Windows Vista) without difficulty, so it is good to know that the products are compatible.
