    Booting ShadowProtect IT Edition from a USB drive

    Hi guys, a little while ago i saw a post about this, with no solution offered.

     Recently i've been getting into the whole multiple linux boot from a usb, and slowly the winpe/bartpe and windows xp embedded usb booting and thought id offer a solution

    Over at the UBCD forums

    http://ubcd4win.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t9668.html

     there is a solution for building a usb bootable bartpe image, shadowprotect IT edition is based on WinPE and the instructions are the same, with the exception of the BartPE files, instead of using the BartPE files, copy the files from the shadowprotect cd into a folder, and point the pe2usb program at those files

     Tested and working with the Q2 and Q3 2008 IT edition

    Hope this answers a few questions,

    OK I did all that but my USB key gives me the Windows 98 splash screen and then the PC reboots.
    Pretty sure I did the right thing with the grub.exe ....here is my config.sys

    -------------------------------------------------------
    rem load grub.exe before emm386.exe
    device=grub.exe --config-file="color black/cyan yellow/cyan;timeout 0;default 0;title find and load NTLDR of Windows NT/2K/XP;find --set-root /ntldr;chainloader /ntldr"

    device=c:\windows\himem.sys
    device=c:\windows\emm386.exe
    ________________________________

    As compared to the original grub files config.sys as follows....

    --------------------------------------------------------
     rem load grub.exe before emm386.exe
    device=grub.exe --bypass --time-out=5 --config-file="color black/cyan yellow/cyan;timeout 60;default 0;title find and load NTLDR of Windows NT/2K/XP;find --set-root /ntldr;chainloader /ntldr;title find and load CMLDR of Windows NT/2K/XP;find --set-root /cmldr;chainloader /cmldr;title find and load IO.SYS of Windows 9x/Me;find --set-root /io.sys;chainloader /io.sys;title floppy (fd0);chainloader (fd0)+1;rootnoverify (fd0);title find and boot Linux with menu.lst already installed;find --set-root /sbin/init;configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst;title find and boot Mandriva with menu.lst already installed;find --set-root /etc/mandriva-release;configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst;title back to dos;quit;title commandline;commandline;title reboot;reboot;title halt;halt;"

    device=c:\windows\himem.sys
    device=c:\windows\emm386.exe

     Hi Mudmann,

     Your config.sys is fine, i've just tested it and it boots as you would expect,

    When you ran the PETOUSB program, did you extract the Shadow Protect CD to a folder, and point it to that folder as the one to grab the files from, as i just noticed that the post i linked to neglected to mention anything about that.

    As far as i can see, grub isnt finding the ntldr, in which case it should reboot.

    Hope this helps you out a bit, give us a yell if it doesn't
