Converting to a VM with backup created by Backup Image Tool missing mailbox data

I used the Backup Image Tool to collapse all of the incrementals and create a single backup file.

Then I imported that backup file into a VM using VMware Converter.

The resulting VM booted fine and mounted the Exchange databases, but it only had the e-mail in it from the last full backup. It did NOT contain the e-mail that was in the incremental backups.

I'm doing a full backup now to see if I get my data correctly from a new one.

Is this a known issue? Am I doing something wrong?

I'm running the latest version of Shadow Protect Server (just downloaded it for eval) on an SBS2003 box. I'm impressed with the software so far, but this is a big problem.

When you use the Backup Image Tool to consolidate that image file chain, can you please click on the "Details" link (while the task is running) and then switch to the job details view and copy and paste the entire detail log of that operation here, so that we can see exactly what it did?

While recreating this problem (for the 4th time, but after having 8 hours of sleep), I found where I went wrong.

On the Backup Image Dependencies screen, I think I failed to select all of the incrementals as well as the base job. I must have just assumed it would roll up all of the incrementals for me. It didn't occur that I would be given the option to select which incrementals to roll into the image.

This time around, I selected them all, and when I mounted my VM, all of the e-mails were there.

Is there a way to get the logs from a previous run of the Backup Image Tool? I only see the log from the current one, and the backup history tab only seems to have logs from the regular backup job. I'd like to compare what i did this time with what I did last night.

Nope, unfortunately the history only contains the logs for the backup jobs.
