How to restore all Documents from Explore?

    This is so confusing!

My machine is down and need to restore to an old laptop with a small drive. So I just need to get all my documents folder restored to the spare machine. BUT, it looks like I need to explore ever sign back up file? When I explore the latest backup, it only shows items on that date. How do I see every file up to last backup?

I have 54 backup files, full & incremental, since March. Numbered 001-010. How do I just view my docs folder and get every file off my backup?

    thanks!

    Oh this is horrible!

I've got a Dell laptop and they have 4 partitions. Seems Shadow protect was only backing up the 10GB restore partition, not my main drive. It looks like backup drive was full so it stopped doing full & incremental of main drive. this would be a catastrophic failure of the backup program! why doesn't it have a warning in the tray that that backup failed? This is rediculous! no backups & no warnings?

more diasterous, i restored another backup to a space drive i had and it completely wiped it out. No warning! What program wipes a drive and doesn't warn the user? name one! this is the worst software I've ever seen. bar none! How is someone supposed to know it's going to wipe their drive clean? I've lost everything on that drive.

Of course there are warnings and errors. They are logged in both the backup log files and in the Windows event logs. You can even get ShadowProtect to send email alerts of both failed and successful backups. Did you bother to read the user manual?

What do you mean "it wiped the drive"? If you restore a sector based backup image over the top of an existing partition, what do you think it is going to do. It is doing exactly what you told it to do.

....by reading the user manual......? Understanding how the product works before using it......?

So this is NOTa consumer product! Now I'm clear. It's designed to work for IT geeks that would check logs or send emails instead of simply pop up a note in the tray so the user is aware. Why send an email out to the net and back on a desktop app? LOL Geek interface vs. intuitive & user friendly. That's always the battle.

So again, what other software out there wipes a drive without a confirmation message? One of the oldest coding standards is to verify a delete. Jeez, even Explorer confirms a single file delete.

Ultimate's backup is completely unreliable. But I see here that this software is for IT pros, not consumers. It is quite unfortunate the arrogance of some software developers. Users are all idiots and their software is perfect as it is. Unfortunate! Can anyone tell why Mac is growing and less people are putting up with geek software for PCs? Apple has record profits and Microsoft just lost.
