How to do a P2V restore for testing purpose.

    Hi all,

I am using first time that Storage craft solution.I want to test my backup to restore it on a virtual server. As the Same server should be live on the network.

I have not any document for it,I just read about it from some post.

Is there it requirred to place the same name for the server which i want to restore.

I want to access the Image file from N/W.

Not sure I understand any of this to be honest.

I would look in the KB - there are a number of articles in there regarding restore to a VM.

If you have a server, then there's a good chance that it has a fixed IP address. If that is the case, you probably don't to restore the backup to a VM on the same network and power it up when the original machine is still live. If you just want to test the restore, just restore the backup to VMware Workstation or VirtualBox. Make sure the VM NIC is disabled during the restore and initial boot up. If you want to 'see' the VM on the network, there are some additional steps required, most of which are described in the KB documents.

    Regards

    FT
