unable to shut down pc after installing shadowprotect

I have installed (and uninstalled) your ShadowProtect 3.1 Desktop a couple of times to resolve a problem that it created.  After installing ShadowProtect & ImageManager (w/ MS .NET), my PC (Win XP Pro) will not shut down.  It gets to the "Windows is Shutting Down" message, then just hangs there.  This problem did not exist prior to installing the software.  In order to fully shutdown, I have to press and hold the PC's power button.  When rebooting, Windows briefly starts (icon w/ status bar), then PC reboots again.  This time it comes up the the typical F8 screen (i.e. asking to start Windows in Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), Start Window Normally).  After selecting to start Windows per Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), Windows starts, but I am presented with a dialog box that indicated "Windows has recovered from a serious error" or similar. What is  or may be causing this issue?

Thank you in advance for your help in resolving this issue.  Robert

I have the same problem with SPD 3.1 and Vista.  I've uninstalled SPD and that eliminated the problem.  I haven't reinstalled it yet to see if it comes back.  If it does and there's no solution I think I'll find another product to handle my HD backup needs.

I'm still having this problem and I'm running the Vista OS.  Does anyone know what process is stuck on that's keeping the computer from shutting down.  If not, I hope I can get a refund...

I'm also running Vista with SP, and I have absolutely no problem shutting down. Is there anything in the Event Viewer logs that might give a clue?

Thanks John for the suggestion to check with Vista Event Viewer Logs.  I found an application hang error for WinDlg.exe.  I Googled that application and it said it was a Western Digital Diagnostics component.  I have a Western Digital (WD) My Book Premiun II 2TB external hard drive that I'm copying my SPD drive images to.  I had installed the WD Diagnostics application...  So, I uninstalled this application and now my computer is shutting down and restarting normally.

I hope this helps other users with this annoying problem.

Has this problem been resolved? I'm running XP Pro and my computer will not power down. When I go back to a Windows restore point where my PC was running fine, my system shuts down fine. However, Shadowprotect desktop won't connect to local host and when I reinstall the program, the powering down problem comes back.
