    "Explore Backup" - unexpected behaviour

In the second dialog of the "Explore Backup Wizard", I point to a backups folder having two full backups, each with several incrementals.  I select one of the files and click Next.

Then a popup that says "One or more dependent files not found".  So again, I navigate to the same backups  folder.  Now it seems to find the files it was missing.  However the dialog "Backup Image Dependencies" lists all the incremental files twice!!!

I looks as though it had all the files in the first place but in error asked for them again and then has them twice!  ALL the backup files are in just one folder.

    Is this a bug???

You may want to try running a Verify on the image, and be sure to select the option to verify all dependent files as well.  Also, are you using the latest versino of ShadowProtect?  Where are the image files located?  Is it on the network or a local disk?

I am using the latest: 3.2.0.2.  It is running under Vista SP1 with auto update turned on.  The backup is of c: and written to a local disk d: which is a RAID 1 (mirror) disk installed under Intel Matrix Storage Manager and uses standard Microsoft drivers.  I have just started a verify which seems to be running OK and is now grinding its way through.  It correctly lists the three full backup roots in the backup directory (C_VOL-b001.spf, etc).

... later, and "Process finished successfully"

     A thought.

Is this happening because SP is looking at the hardware (i.e 2 disks = d:) rather than the volume (=d:)???

ShadowProtect should see a single volume for the mirror.  Does the Disk Map tab show the actual two disks that make up the mirror?  Are you doing this from the recovery environment, or from ShadowProtect within Windows?

The disk map tab lists disk0 as "Intel Raid 1 volume".  I am booting from disk 1 using bios F8 and not from the default boot device disk0.

    I am working within Windows.

     Don't sweat on this.

I am giving up on Intel Matrix Manager RAID as soon as I can figure out how.

I did not lose anything when a disk failed.  But I was not able to rebuild it either.  I could backup and restore to to a new non-RAID disk only.  So I am using that now but it is still entangled with Intel RAID as a managed non-raid disk.  Possibly a SP back-clean-restore is the only way to get rid of it.

Next time I will crash with SP protection.

    Hope it works!!
