    Restore to a smaller HD

I have recently downloaded and tried ShadowProtect and will probably buy it.

I made an image of the HD to a larger external drive. Can anyone tell me when the expected fix for this will be available?

Is it months down the road or will it be available soon?

    Thank you,

    Tom Foley

Re: Restore to a smaller HD

After trying the full evaluation, I found out about this shortcoming, at least for my needs, as well. Everything else about the software I tested was great, but I really need to be able to restore to a smaller partition. I have been holding off buying after reading that 3.3 was to be released "in a couple of weeks". That was about 5 weeks ago.

Please fill us in on the status of 3.3.

    Thank you,

    Mark Henderson

Yes, version 3.3 will include some functionality to help you restore to smaller volumes.  It has already been released in the latest IT Edition, and in Desktop and Server Editions in a couple of other languages, but not yet in English.  The release of the English version is imminent, and could happen any time now.  It may be a little behind what we had indicated previously (which is really not uncommon in the software industry), and we appreciate your patience, but the extra time is allowing us to ensure that we deliver a complete and high-quality release.  It won't be long now.

    Tom
Maybe I'm reading your post incorrectly, but if you are concerned about saving an image to a larger external drive and then restoring to your smaller internal drive, there is absolutely no problem with that. The size of the disk where the image is stored has absolutely no bearing on anything. The problem right now (until 3.3 is released) is that you cannot restore to another disk which is smaller than the original disk from which the image was made. For example, you cannot image a 250GB drive and then restore the image to a smaller 200GB drive. If I misunderstood your problem, then please disregard this.
