• Re: Can't restore a Windows 7 TrueCrypt Image
If this is still live - would be interested to know why SP won't work with True Crypt under vista.
The originally issue, I described above, related to v3.4. There should be no issue with V3.5. However, as mentioned, you need to be aware of the fact that...

  • Re: Fatal I/O error (-87 The parameter is incorrect.)
decided to upgrade to SP 3.5.3570 yesterday to see if that solved it. Sure enough, this morning it created incrementals successfully.
That's good news - hopefully you will see less issues with the latest version. Post back if you encounter any more issues...

  • Re: Excluding files
I too have PGP WDE 9.10 (latest) and SPro 3.4 (also latest). There is no way to get a backup of an encrypted boot drive using the GUI. I have not heard of the environment variable work-around. Worth a try I guess. An old post said PGP would add this exclusion ...

Try the following Create a system environment variable named SP_SBVOL_IGNORE_READ_ERRORS with the value 1. Restart (stop and start) the "ShadowProtect Service" (ShadowProtectSvc.exe). I believe a later version of ShadowProtect may have this option built in to the UI. FT
TrueCrypt creates a proprietary boot loader of it's own when encrypting the boot drive.
? Really. If you have sector problems, especially with both PGP AND TrueCrypt, which is what you imply above, then you have a much bigger problem. But here is some advice...
I'm not talking about Vista. I have no problems with Vista. My problems are with Windows 7 and imaging TrueCrypt and PGP. And I restored all hidden tracks and all I get is sector errors with SC. There is nothing wrong with my hard drives. I ran SpinRite on them...

  • Re: Can't restore a Windows 7 TrueCrypt Image

It depends how you configured your system. If you installed the small <200MB hidden boot partition, then you might have a few extra problems. However, if you do not install that partition, then you should have more luck with both PGP and TrueCrypt. I've tested PGP on Vista, and it will work, even...

  • Re: Options when I restore an image.

Thanks JD. Regarding the restore. Some disk encryption products locate their pre-boot authentication code (the initial login menu) in the main system disk. However, TrueCrypt, I believe, stores its boot menu code in the hidden tracks between the MBR and first partition. If you restore to a blank, new...
