• Re: Server Slow during snapshot after HIR

Hi Here are a few ideas - you may have already checked these, but if not, it's a place to start. If you migrate from a single CPU to mult-CPU, check that the multi-processor HAL is loaded. It is possible that the machine is running on only one of the processors. You can check that with Task Manager...

  • HIR Restore - ShadowProtect not installed on server

HI please could someone clarify if we will be able to succesfully perform a HIR Restore from an image that was created in the Recovery CD only? ShadowProtect was not installed on the server, the hardware is different. Thanks.

  • Re: 3 ShadowProtect (Desktop) questions?

I'll add one extra note to what I wrote above. I've since done a range of Windows XP SP3 and Windows Server 2003 restores to different hardware. Frustratingly, unlike Vista, the amount of time Windows gives you to activate the license sometimes appears to be less than 30 days. In one case, I...

  • Re: Question re. switching partitions for images

SPT Hmmm. Well I can't argue with the minidump, but I'm a little confused with this. I have a system where I took a backup of a Windows 7 64-bit system (running in a VM) and restored the same backup to two partitions on the same drive. I used obviously used HIR but I did also restore the second...
However, I don't know what textmode setup is; if I press F7 on the Win xp boot, it doesn't do anything and I still get the BSOD
It's refering to the initial Windows installation stage - the one where you have a chance to press F6 to load drivers. From...

  • HP G6 series hardware and HIR

Has anyone had any experience using IT Edition on the HP G6 hardware? Does HIR work or do we need to load drivers?

  • Re: Advanced restore options

Lower the rank, the better a match is for the device. A rank of zero is the best match. With things like this, it is often better to just check Microsoft's MSDN pages. That way you get it direct from the people who wrote the code. How Setup Ranks Drivers (Windows Vista and Later) http://msdn.microsoft...

  • Re: Advanced restore options
EDIT : I finally resolved the issue : I erased the disk and then recovered from The Vista Environement. I was asked to provide both disk.sys and .INF files for the SCSI\Drive, so I changed the match level to "fair level". However, the OS managed to boot for...

  • Re: Advanced restore options

Hi Yeah, DevCon is really handy to get the Hardware ID for the device in question. You can then use that ID to help identify a driver and/or even hack an existing driver INF file to include that Hardware ID (and therefore force Windows to load a driver if you did not have a suitable inf file to hand...
