  • Storage Manager 4 Database.Execute: failed

It looks like I've trashed Image Manager 4 again. It only lasted 10 days before lots of entries like this showed up in several folder log files. COM1_C-b003-i474.spi 17-May-2010 17:47:17 update verify failed 17-May-2010 17:47:18 verify COM1_C-b003-i475.spi 17-May-2010 17:47:20 MD5 verify succeeded...

  • Re: Unable to connect to SP Server using ImageManager

Aldo, it seems like you might be getting connected ok. As you stated when the ImageManager program is first started the title bar reads "ShadowProtect ImageManager [Not Connected]". If you look carefully after you do File | Connect to Server, and click connect, if you don't get any errors...

  • Re: New to this product! Need help on creating a recovery cd?

The Image Manager is to maintain the sequence of files in a continuous incremental backup job. Retention policies set on normal jobs determine how long images ans incremental backups are kept. For the continuous incremental backup job, the image manager does that task. For instance, hourly backups for...

  • Re: Inconsistent ImageManager and SPD behavior--poor error handling?

On watching the conditions above for another day, it appears that ImageManager has a couple of problems. I say ImageManager because ShadowProtectsvc never shows these problems. Computer complexity being what it is, it could be something else. The conditions are not related to the NAS sleeping as I thought...

  • Inconsistent ImageManager and SPD behavior--poor error handling?

I've been testing IM and SPD and have had some odd behavior. To help resolve the issue, I deleted the existing backup tasks and destinations and started over. I'll limit the discussion here to that environment, (which, of course, has behavior that is different from what I saw at first). I think...

  • Re: Image Manager and bare metal restores

They use the Retention Policy! The retention policy defines how many backup chains SP needs to maintain for a backup job. You can set the policy to remove just incrementals, in which case you will have a long list of full backups (which some people like because the manually copy the file to a new location...

  • Confused about ImageManager

Hey everyone, I am testing out SP Desktop and so far its going quite well. The backups are working smoothly, as well as restores. But I had a few questions about ImageManager... Can ImageManager be used with all the various backup schedules, or is it just the continuous? I had read on the forums that...

  • Re: Getting my head around continuous incrementals and Image Manger

The only thing missing in your description is the monthly collapse (-cd-cm, or -cd-cw-cm) which occurs each month based on the create time of the earliest full backup image in the directory. These monthly collapse files always remain in the directory so beyond the 90 day period of weekly image files...
