"Second and subsequent full backups are differentials" is an excellent option for saving disk space on your backup destination drive. When this feature was added it was anticipated that it would be widely used but it doesn't appear that it has, probably due to lack of exposure / information...

Any time you are continuously adding image files you will eventually run out of disk space. However, after one year of using the 7, 30, 90 retention you may only have 9 more files than you did after the first 3 or 4 months of the chain. Basically there is a moving window of 3 to 4 months of collapse...

The only thing missing in your description is the monthly collapse (-cd-cm, or -cd-cw-cm) which occurs each month based on the create time of the earliest full backup image in the directory. These monthly collapse files always remain in the directory so beyond the 90 day period of weekly image files...

Upgraded to v3.2 now Imagemanager client won't connect to server

ImageManager is not collapsing my Continuous Incrementals

I have a Continuous Incrementals schedule to take backups every 20 minutes. I then installed ImageManager and created a policy to collapse them automatically, but I have not seen it do one collapse yet. I even left my machine on for 30 hours continously to check it wasn't a problem with the schedule...
