• Re: Trying to restore an image to smaller disk without success

This procedure is produces different results for everyone. It really depends on the disk itself and where the MFT is located. StorageCraft is unable to incorporate the ability to shrink a partition due to certain copyright and patent issues, so this feature which is from Microsoft is the best that you...

  • Re: Bare Metal Restore

Brent You do not need to create the partitions outside of the ShadowProtect Recovery Enviornment CD. When you boot into this CD, you select the Restore Wizard. After seelecting the backup you wish to restore, the wizard will ask where you want to restore to. If you select a blank HDD, the wizard will...

  • When restoring image and .spi files missing can the program tell us which is missing

If you do a restore of a partition using SP it does the verify that all .spi files are available. If there are any missing it comes up with a dialog box asking you to navigate to where the missing .spi files might be. It would be helpful if that dialog box could tell you which .spi file it actually can't...

  • Very, very strange behavior by ShadowDesktop 3.5 - what is going on???

I use ShadowDesktop (SD) because I can restore my hard drive if it crashes or gets infected. And I recommend it to my clients. So, today, I was very surprised when my (XP-Pro) client called and said: "We had a power outage the other day. When I restarted my computer, it came up with NO icons and...

  • Re: SP failed to create bootable Win 7/64 drive

The answer to your question is here: http://forum.storagecraft.com/Community/forums/p/2556/12260.aspx#12260 There is a different procedure for restoring the small 100mb partition. If you were to restore the C: drive only it would boot up after the restore, but the other partition takes just 2 more steps...
A lot of the posts here are from techs who are working with these products on a daily basis. We're a small business so we don't have that luxury. A product of this kind has to work first time out of the box (even if behind the scenes it's very configurable)...
Once I backup the 3 volumes shoudl I take out both drives and only add in 1 of the 160GB then do the restore of the three volumes and then add the mirror drive?
I would think that it depends on your raid controller - if the controller can add the mirror to...

  • Re: Bare Metal HIR Restore Query

Hi Harry Yes, you can do this, but it might be a little fiddly, especially with the HP Utility partition. If you are set on having the HP utility partition you can probably use the HP SmartStart CD to create it and then perform your restore. I've used SmartStart before, but only to create the RAID...
