  • Restoring one of multiple logical partitions on single physical HD without overwriting other partitions?

Can ShadowProtect Desktop restore a backup image of any individual logical partition on a single, multiple-partitioned physical hard drive without overwriting or modifying data on the remaining logical partitions? For example, if the PC has a single physical HD with three partitions (OS on logical 'C'...

  • After restoring I can't log in

Hi. I am running XP-Pro on a Dell 8600 laptop. The Dell has a Hitachi 60gb drive. I own 2 identical 60gb drives. Using ShadowDesktop 3.2, I took an image of my 60gb. I put that image on an Iomega 320 USB20 drive. I (think I) did this from the program, not the Recovery CD (sorry). After successfully taking...

  • Restored disk won't boot

Dell OptiPlex 210L, Win XP Home. We backup the entire C: drive. We restore it to the second SATA drive, which is a different size. We swap drives so the newly imaged drive is the boot drive. It won't boot - says the drive is not configured. Ideas? We have tried with and without the "Restore...

  • Backed up a RAID 0 array but now I can't restore it to a smaller drive

I just purchased ShadowProtect Desktop 3.2 and backed up my RAID 0 array, which is made of two 75 GB HDDs, so the actual capacity of the array is approximately 138 GB. The backup image was compressed to 20 GB...no problems so far. What I want to do is tear down the RAID array and restore the image to...

  • Restoring image to a larger drive

I've already created the image of my HD to an external USB hard drive. Now I want to do the restore to a larger drive. I'm hoping the...

  • Tip for performing a successful backup / restore with IT Edition on different hardware

So I am somewhat new to SP IT Edition. I am still evaluating the product for my company with the "ShadowProtectIT_Q2_2008.iso" demo disk. I had been trying to backup a Dell PowerEdge 700 and restore it to a Dell PowerEdge 2900. Everytime I was doing the restore on the 2900 it only gave me the...

  • SP 3.1 Recovery Failure...

Looks like we have experienced our first catastrophic failure that we were not able to bring back from an SP image. Every time we imaged the new drives that went into the server, we received CHKDSKs during the inital bootup phases with an inability to fix the errors due to insufficient disk space. In...

  • VMWare, Server 2008, IT edition

Just for fun, I used IT edition to ShadowProtect a virtual Server 2K8 DC i have created (to restore to a larger disk) in the VMware server console, I seem to have lost the ability to send mouse or keypresses, but I can RDP to the server fine. Just FYI.

  • Cannot get to Restore...Blue Screen of Technical Difficulties

I have two Dell computers. One is about 4 years old (GX620), the other a (755) is brand new. They are both on a corporate network. I have made the appropriate image on the GX620 and created a CD restore from a download. I tried to install SP on the new machine, but it won't activate. The GX image...

  • Re: IT Edition 3.1 and Intel SE7221BA on board RAID

Nate, The Windows Vista driver did indeed work in the WinPE environment. There were some funky behaviours though: If I had the USB FDD attached, then Disk 0 on the RAID controller was identified as the floppy disk. Remove the FDD, refresh the volumes and all was good. We had both RAID 1 arrays available...
