• Re: Hyper-V Restore - 1-2MB/Sec?!?
I was having really slow response in the SP environment and the restore was 1MB/s. I cancled the restore. I then went into the Hyper-v VM settings and changed from 2 virtual processors to 1 virtual processor and changed the memory from 2048Gb to 1024Gb. The VM booted...

  • Re: Recovery to VMWare ESXi

In order to restore directly from a ShadowProtect Backup Image to an ESXi virtual machine, you will have to have a network connection existing between the location of the backup images and the machine hosting the Virtual Machines. It is my understanding that you cannot even manage an ESXi Server without...

  • Re: The HIR operation failed. Error: 0x000003F1

What "VM" are you using? If it is a VMware VM, then which version of the VMWare converter are you using? If it is version 4.0, download the version 3. I know the version 3 works - it's the one built into Workstation 6.5 and I use that with no problem. Also check that you have no problem...

  • Re: single to multi-processor migrations

Hi Zac If you create a copy of the VM, you should be able to change the number of virtual CPUs, even without SP and a restore. You just need to force Windows to load the multi-processor HAL. There should be some posts on this on the VMware forum. From what I remember, the VMWare document about multi...

Hi all, Can anyone shed some light on single to multi-processor migprations using Server Ed.? I have a vmware guest, a single processor MS Win2003 Terminal Server, which is suffering from CPU overuse. I'd like to migrate this guest to a 2-processor guest. • Re: 2008 Hyper-v - Bare Metal, Exchange Recovery
Relative to a bare metal recovery... With Hyper-v I need to have an actual vm setup and ready to go. I would restore the exisitng Exchange server backup (image files) to that vm.
Correct. It is often convenient to simply HIR restore from a backup image. Most VM...

  • Re: 2008 Hyper V
I did have it setup to use the Hyper-v. The drawback, as I see it, is I have to have a vm machine setup and ready and then I have to restore to it.
That should not be much of an issue. It'll take a couple of minutes to define a generic couple of VMs that...
